Be My Guest....

I had an opportunity to be someone's guest for the first time ever – blog-wise, I mean – and guess what?  I did it!

It was new, exciting, fun, and a little scary, but I did it.

A fellow blogger whom I'd known only through the Twittersphere until recently (@dubyawife) put the call out for guest bloggers on her #fitblog, and here is my post:
http://www.dubyawife.com/2013/01/guest-post-all-shapes-sizes-by-rebekah.html

It stretched me, made me think, and for the first time in a while, gave me butterflies about writing.

I highly recommend it. :-)

#SilentWriters

Conveniently, now that it's Wednesday, I'm committing to join the #SilentWriters movement comprised of prose bearers everywhere who dedicate 60 minutes each Tuesday night to writing in silence.

My writing may not always turn up here, but at least some of it should.

There. I said I'd do it, and I will. Let's see what comes of this newfangled #silentwriting. :-)

Update on My List.

So I just learned that when you're incapable of blogging for 3 months, you check a lot of things off your list! I've updated my list (at the bottom of the blog), and bold items are completed. Yay!

I Back, Everybody!

A few years ago, my nephew had what he realized was his first Christmas break from anything. In his case, the break was from "the Little Lambs School," his church's preschool. Throughout the break, he was convinced he was missing out on what his friends in his class were doing. No amount of discussion could change his mind or relay that actually, everyone had a break from Little Lambs. After Christmas when school started back, I asked my sister and brother-in-law how he felt about going back. They said he was excited to see his friends, and on his first day after the break, he marched into his classroom, shrugged off his little backpack, threw his arms wide open and yelled, "I back, everybody!"

That is how I feel today -- as though I am reentering a part of my world that I have missed like crazy. After a few VERY long months of moving and trying to get settled in and working around several milestones in between, I'm finally back in the blogosphere.

Since blogging is undoubtedly a therapeutical outlet for me, you can probably expect to see a few more posts than what have been coming through lately. Which would total...more than zero. :-)

It's already good to be back.

Re-entry.

I promise I'm not being melodramatic when I say that going for this long without blogging is just yucky for me.

Since my blog absenteeism was not at all by choice, re-entry should be interesting. I wonder if I'll binge like a starved puppy, or pace myself accordingly. We shall see. :-)

Either way, folks, re-entry is a-comin'!

Bloggin' gone bad.

I've been slacking on my blogging lately. But an acquaintance of mine has been doing just the opposite -- she's vowed to blog EVERY DAY.

Since Crawfish Boil season is upon me (at work, my busiest time of the year ever), I won't be blogging every day by any means, but I might try a little harder to release some of this pent-up creativity more often.

A New Look

As a grandiose welcome to Autumn 2009 (and a result of being homebound with strep throat), I've decided to play around and give this ol' blog a new look.

Whaddya think? I'm liking the color scheme so far...

Let the flashbacks begin!

In an effort to catch up on some very procrastinated blogging of trips, life events, etc., I'm shamelessly ripping off my friend Presley's idea of Flashback Blogs.

(Ok, she sweetly gave me permission, but still -- it's NOT an original concept by RJ!)

So watch this space... Hopefully the catching up will begin sooner as opposed to later. :-)

Blego.

This week, I learned a great new term: blego.

Definition? The blogger's ego.

Pronunciation? Blee-go.

Apparently, those who follow closely (and can ultimately profit from) well-read blogs are intensely aware that commenting on blogs strokes the blogger's ego, enhancing the commenter's credibility and accessibility to more info.

Interesting, eh?

Half the bill, but still Whole Foods.

I found an interesting and useful blog post tonight, "Half is sometimes better at Whole Foods." I enjoyed the post because I am in mad love with Whole Foods, but like most people whose last name is not Trump, cannot shop there on a regular or bulk basis.

I'm not sure if this info applies to other Whole Foods-type stores, like Fresh Market, but it's def worth investigating.

Move over, MySpace. Here comes Blogger.

I'm starting the process of moving my old posts over from MySpace, so if you're one of the (un?)lucky peeps who is getting e-mail alerts every time I post a blog, I apologize on behalf of myself! I turned on the option earlier and am not sure how to turn it off. :-\

first semi-real blogspot blog

After blogging for a couple of years on MySpace, I've decided to become a real blogger and start posting these mini-journal entries on blogspot instead of e-mailing the blogs to friends and family who are not on MySpace.

I hope to be as good at for-real blogging as my friends Kristen and Shawn, who do fantastic jobs of updating readers on their worlds and the interesting happenings that go on in them.

So who knows? Maybe I'll post a really real blog really soon!
